Before
Please note that if you are prone to cold sores, this procedure may cause outbreaks, which can cause color to fade. If this is the case for you, we can still perform the procedure, but we ask that you take your anti-viral medication 48 hours prior to your procedure to prevent outbreaks.
Exfoliate your lips with a product such as a sugar scrub each of the 5 days before your procedure.
Moisturize your lips with a balm each of the 5 days before your procedure.
Avoid blood thinners, such as Aspirin and pain killers, 48 hrs prior.
Do not consume alcohol 24 hours prior to your procedure.
No caffeine on the day of the procedure
No mustache waxing or plucking 48 hours prior
No retinol or retinoids around lips 7 days prior
After
Day 1
Your lips will be swollen and bright.
DON’T touch your lips with uncleaned fingers.
DO sleep on your back to avoid touching your lips to your pillow or other surfaces.
DO moisturize your lips. Wash your hands every time you apply moisturizer.
Days 2-5
Swelling will go down and your lips will become darker.
Lips will start to peel, with the peeling process completing around the 5th day.
DON’T touch your lips with uncleaned fingers.
DO sleep on your back to avoid touching your lips to your pillow or other surfaces.
DON’T apply make-up, or harsh chemicals like cleansers or creams to the treated areas.
DON’T expose your lips to the sun or any UV lighting device.
DON’T allow sweat on to the treated area until scabs have completely fallen off.
DON’T get chemical treatments, botox, or other fillers near or on your lips for the next 4 weeks.
DON’T eat spicy foods or highly acidic foods, such as citrus.
DO drink through a straw.
DO moisturize your lips. Wash your hands every time you apply moisturizer.
DO come back for your scheduled touch-up appointment with your artist. Semi-permanent make-up is a process. Two to three sessions are typically required to achieve the desired results. It is not uncommon to lose up to 70% of the the applied color after the first session.
